Fairlop are a local band that contest in the 2nd section nationally. They meet once a week at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Fencepeice Road, Barkingside. the band is unique in that it is not run by comittee, but is instead run as an autonomous collective of musicians under the guidance of a successful musical director (Kevin Jordan) who donates his time and experience free to the band.

Some of the players (and indeed some of the players partners) volunteer to carry out the 'tasks' required to keep a band like Fairlop going; on behalf, and for the benefit of the rest of the band. So far this has worked, with the band celebrating it's 50th anniversary in 2018.

The band does not take itself too seriously, but retains a goal of musical improvement, individually and as a collective.

The band exists by charging players a token amount (subscriptions) per month. This covers the hall, purchase of music, and booking of venues. The subscription is subsidised by concerts and events given by the band during the year, as well as an 'in house' lottery we call the 100 club.

Send us a message, and we will arrange a (free) trial practice with us to see if you like it...
